The Kaibo Yacht Club situated on the beach in Cayman Kai has both bar and restaurant facilities and was opened approximately 5 years ago. On either side of Kaibo Yacht Club are peaceful private condominiums the newest phase being completed in October 2005. Sandy Kai is a 2-bedroom condominium situated in this newly built phase.
These new condominiums have a spectacular infinity pool surrounded by several shady gazebos. For your convenience less than 50 yards away is a small shop and mini marina.
During the week the area is peaceful, beautiful and an idyllic setting for any vacation. On Sunday afternoons the pace picks up as locals and tourist alike come to the Kaibo Beach Bar to relax in a friendly family environment.
The Kaibo Yacht Club and condominiums are extremely well built and suffered no damage from Hurricane Ivan.
Sandy Kai has a large living area with a fully equipped kitchen with granite countertops and brand new appliances. It has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, is the end ground floor unit farthest from The Kaibo Yacht Club and, therefore, has plenty of privacy. The master bedroom overlooks the beautiful beach and has fantastic views of the sandy bay and Caribbean Sea. The master bedroom has a king-size bed with an ensuite bathroom.
The second bedroom has twin beds and access to the second bathroom.
The living area is beautifully furnished with a six-seat dining table, cable television, a DVD and video player. Additionally the living area has a sofa bed allowing the condominium to accommodate up to 6 people.
All furniture, bedding and kitchen accessories are brand new to make your stay even more enjoyable.
The outside screened in patio also has a dining table and chairs ideal for watching the glorious Caribbean sunsets.
Next door to the condominiums there is a small shop that sells snacks, camera film, sun lotion, ice creams and emergency items. At Rum Point there is a good beachwear and local artifacts shop. About 5 miles down the coast road you will find Chisholm's, which is a small convenience store.
The nearest large supermarket is Hurley's and it is a 35 minute drive toward George Town, where there is also a liquor store and small shopping mall. It is recommended that you do your grocery shopping before heading out toward Cayman Kai as this particular shopping mall is on route to Cayman Kai.
All banks are located in George Town with plenty of ATM machines available. Your quickest access to George Town is to take the ferry across from Rum Point - a great boat trip and a fun way to travel.
The beach is very clean with fine sand. A few local fishermen bring in their boats on Fridays and Saturdays and quite often sell their catch to the Kaibo restaurant so you can be guaranteed of the freshest fish on the Island.
The area of Cayman Kai is a marine preservation area. About a five-minute walk along to the peninsula called Ivory Point you will easily find beautiful red starfish. The beach here is great for a barbeque or picnic and you can even bring a bottle of wine, as long as you take your garbage with you you're not breaking any laws.
Just 1 km in the other direction you will find Rum Point. This is open during the day and has a bar and restaurant. There is great snorkeling to the right of the Rum Point dock, a shady beach and very shallow waters for young children to play in.
